How to Buy a Waterbed Mattress
So, you want to buy a waterbed. Where to start then? There are many things to think about, and a variety of types and styles to choose from.
One of the first things you need to decide is what type of waterbed mattress do you want? Do you want one that has a lot of motion, or one that has hardly any? You can choose a mattress from full wave to waveless, and everything in between.
Do you like the old traditional style of a hardside waterbed, or would you prefer a waterbed mattress that looks just like a regular mattress (softside waterbed)?
If you love the wood frame original style waterbed, then go for the hardside. If you prefer the look of a regular bed (just like you probably have now), then go for the softside. Because a softside looks just like any bed, no one will even know you have a waterbed, unless they sit or lay on it of course.
Hardside Waterbed Mattress Sizes:
King (California King) 72x84
Super Single 48x84
Softside Waterbed Mattress Sizes:
Twin (Single) 39x75
Full (Double) 54x75
California King 72x84
There are also other things to consider. You are going to want to heat your new waterbed, perhaps have new sheets (especially for the odd ball sizes of hardside mattresses), a safety liner is a must (in case of leakage).
Waterbed conditioner, a fill and drain kit, a mattress pad, and even a repair kit are all essentials for having everything you need to get stated too.
Whichever waterbed mattress you decide to buy, you are in for a very special treat. Your nights will be filled with a different kind of sleep than before. Many describe sleeping on a waterbed is like floating on a cloud.
